New Sound

I've played every single one of your instruments
and still need a new sound
a little toy
to play with
when you're not around

Stored You

I've somehow stored you in my eyes
I gaze into mirror and see you looking
And loving me
As if I were the invention of woman
And you a man a million years alone

Now

Resolution or resurrection
Whatever the foe
Whomever the friend
I have this plan for you
Take me now
Or leave this

Rock Free

Here I lay on this beach
Seaweed strewn drowned guitars
wash up to dune and back out to sea
Shell colored drum heads
roll in with tides
cockles and high hats and scallops and rides
A band of freedom I can never touch
In which no one can ever play
Just see it leaping in the wave
The notes lapping up between my toes
Even that felt like too much
But both feet in could truly save the music
you so freely gave
But as my hand went to the land
Ever unplanned you just float away

Charade

As you were walking in your joy parade
Leading the band
Waving the crowd
I was writing you a quiet note
A hushed psalm
Shushed loud
And you were spectacle
I simply spectacularly shy
And I
Let your two ring sigh
Ring through these halls for days
And now find confetti and cups
In the places we laid
Your big charade

Shake You Off

Until my better senses kick in
let me shake you off

A Dare

I dare you to stand naked before me
and not be blown apart
by the sheer need to dematerialize
and join again with me whole

Stand there and look at me
Drink me as the heart drinks blood
I have known you my whole life
Without knowing you at all
Secretly kept the fire alight
the dream that love made is love created-
Real
Exists
Now not only within the Mona Lisa smile
defining the sky of this room
divining
as naked I sit
still in front of you
And watch you disappear into being

Moat

Entering my body
Gets you into the moat
surrounding my heart
Which is the castle
But stay the serenade of townsmen
and their foundried bellows;
those metaled assignations of the heart and mind
compounded to stone
a vicar for the ruby kindness
and the stakes which protect this dull pink ache
oh yes
you are inside of this prodigious dominion
but do mind the dragons

Beautiful

If only I could put his beautiful soul
into your beautiful body

Sleeping

Did you think
One clover kiss
would raise me
make me
run into your velvet arms?
I've been sleeping
for one hundred years,
had one million dreams
a little presumptuous?
Since last I was laid
to rest, this rusty past
comes back in flakes
of dusk coloured days and
fairytale fades
to deep sleep blue-
was it you?
Back when?
Whose heart was true?
Why don't you
make me love you
again
