Leash

Oh that leash got me
And you suppose
I would be relieved
In a smaller box
Behind a taller fence
In which to create
But oh how they'll tell stories
Of the lines I colored through
The fences I hopped
And the world I bore outside of the box
For now though
I sit
I stay

Steep

We steep each other in mantras
Like weak tea from strained leaves
Clutter Clatter Silly Chatter
Passed down promises of the limits of these lives
And somehow we decided
to stop expanding;
but rather on the Great Wednesday of the universe
we decided to dim the lanterns,
turn back inward
go home
and live on the grit of these dwindling words
falling around us like paper bag leaves
steeping around us
water to dust

One Man Raft

You're too busy surviving
On your one man raft
To turn around and see your flailing love
Good for the gander
Noose for the goose
You left me like an ailing dove
When all I really wanted was to move into your heart
and make you a part of my standing ground
But you paddle on
doing what's best for you
And if it suits you
perhaps turn around
And if in luck still hear a splashing sound
But only after your own safety's found

Emoticon

Wonderful body
I use to move my perspective forward
I don't even feel pounce per ounce
as legs run away
Above
I float
In a happy face thought bubble
Emoticon
The con
for the complex beneath
And the life that gets itself
And lives beyond us

Greener Grass

Cause I see so many of them
with greener grass stains on their knees
and all they gave up to please
I can't appease
I rather walk the dirt
get called a tease
Because deep down she knew her red white and blue
was true
and must pursue it beyond the red and white bars
beyond the starstruck things they told her to do for fame
Since Aunt Sam went on the lamb
things just haven't been the same
